What we can tell you about the bird
Chicken is the meat most households buy every week, and the one Muslim families check hardest. So here is the honest version.
Our chicken is sourced through our halal butcher partner in Bristol and prepared to hand-slaughter standards where the supplier confirms it. We hold a supplier declaration rather than per-bird third-party evidence, and we are not going to dress that up as more than it is. If the slaughter method is the deciding factor for your household, email us before you order and we will tell you exactly what we hold for the cut you want.
We do not name the certifier on this page, or anywhere outside our sourcing statement. A certifier's name on a page reads as a claim however the sentence is built, and we would rather you could check what we actually hold than take a logo on trust.
How the chicken reaches you
You choose the cut and the weight. It is prepared on the morning of your delivery day, kept chilled, and packed for your drop rather than sitting in a freezer waiting for one.
Order before 2pm and it arrives the same day between 2pm and 10pm, every day of the week. Order later and you pick a day up to a week ahead.
Minimum order is £45 across Bristol, £100 in Bath and Banwell, £150 in the furthest districts and £150 for the districts further out. Delivery is £4.99, and free over £65. If something is not right when you open the box, tell us and we refund it.
Cooking it: chicken is done at 75°C in the thickest part, and a whole bird wants roughly 20 minutes per 500g plus 20, rested for fifteen. Allergen information is on every product page.
Questions Bristol families ask about halal chicken
Frequently asked
Where does your halal chicken come from?
Through our halal butcher partner in Bristol. We do not publish the supplier's name — that is an operational relationship, not marketing — but the certificate reference for any product is available by email on request, naming the issuing body and its scope.
Is the chicken hand-slaughtered?
It is prepared to hand-slaughter standards where our supplier confirms it. We say it that way deliberately: we hold a supplier declaration rather than per-bird third-party evidence, and we would rather describe what we can stand behind than claim more and withdraw it later. If hand slaughter is the deciding factor for your household, email us before you order and we will tell you exactly what we hold for the cut you want.
Is it fresh or frozen?
Fresh. Your chicken is cut on the morning of your delivery day and kept chilled until it reaches you. Nothing is cut in advance and frozen.
Can I get halal chicken delivered today in Bristol?
Yes, if your order is in before 2pm. It arrives the same day between 2pm and 10pm, seven days a week. After 2pm you pick any day in the coming week.
Do you deliver chicken to my postcode?
Every BS postcode across Bristol, on a £45 minimum order — except Banwell, BS29, where the round trip means £100. We also reach Bath on BA1 and BA2 at £100, and BA4, GL5, NP19, SN14 and SN15 further out at £150. Your postcode is checked at checkout, with the minimum that applies to it, before you pay.
How much is halal chicken?
Cuts start at £2.79 for 500g of thigh. Breast is £3.99 for 500g, drumsticks and wings £4.99 a kilo, and a medium whole bird £5.99. The Family Chicken Box brings the week's cuts together in one box.
Do you sell chicken by the kilo?
Yes. Legs, drumsticks, wings and tikka are sold by the kilo; breast, diced breast and thigh come in 500g packs. You choose the cut and the weight and it is prepared for your delivery rather than picked off a shelf.
